oceans eleven has an animated opening to the film with snap shots of the main characters, the film opening doesn't show any location, to keep audience thinking. The characters are introduced when the camera switches to each actor, this gives a steady tempo to the beginning and draws the audiences attention, the music gives a plotted mischief, atmosphere to the viewers gives a crime based feel. The characters are wearing smart costumes to maybe give the audience the impression there's money involved. The background that the characters names and faces are slotted in, contrast with their costumes, as bright colors are not normally associated with smart suits and jackets. this could give the impression that the characters may not be as serious as they look, which suits into the genre of a crime caper. the tempo of the opening is a smooth slow zoom into the characters with quick medium shots to the next character as the camera slowly moves in on the face getting a close up of them and who they are e.g. their real name and what their character is based on e.g. "the professional".
